Screenings
All individuals applying for public housing assistance at the Schuyler Housing Agency will be subjected to background checks. If you do not pass the background screening favorably you will be denied housing assistance.
Screenings
The following background checks will be performed on all household members 18 years of age and older:
- Criminal History
- Sex Offender Registry
- Credit History
- Previous Landlord History
- Previous Tenant in any Public Housing
- Citizenship Status
Sex Offender Registry
NOTE: If you are required to register as a sex offender you will be automatically denied housing assistance.
Sex offender registry checks are done through: U.S. Department of Justice National Sex Offender Public Website
Methamphetamines & Other Illegal Drugs
If you have been convicted for the manufacture, sale, distribution or use of methamphetamines you will automatically be denied housing assistance.
HUD Bad Debts Repository
If you have previously received housing assistance from any public housing agency and owe money to any public housing agency, Schuyler Housing Agency will not provide you with housing assistance until your debt to the previous housing agency has been paid in full.
